WORKSHOPS

School holidays | Ages 8-12

During the school holidays, the museum’s pedagogical and mediation team offers workshops to children aged 8 to 12 combining a creative, active and multidisciplinary approach. Let yourself be inspired by the themes covered in these workshops and allow your creative spirit to reveal itself!

Our next workshops

  • Little Designers of Antiquity (Ages 8–12)
    04.05.2026 > 08.05.2026

From famous vases to majestic cities, from amphitheaters to jewelry… The Greeks and Romans created objects and buildings that still fascinate us today! During this workshop’s week, we will travel back in time to explore these civilisations: their ideas, their gods, and especially their way of building and imagining the world.

Then it’s time to create! You’ll design your own columns, imagine a futuristic amphitheater, or even reinvent Caesar’s house in Brussels! We will explore the city in search of traces of Antiquity around us. Ready to travel through time? Come to the Design Museum Brussels and let yourself be inspired to invent your own version of the ancient world!

Themes: mythology, Roman Empire, Greek Empire, architecture, design, theater, ornament

Objectives: Awaken and stimulate children’s creativity by introducing them to different creative techniques; Develop imagination and a personal aesthetic vision; Complete a project from A to Z.

  • Archikids. Let’s build the city of tomorrow! (Ages 8-12)

06.07.2026 > 10.07.2026

From Brussels’ townhouses to its colourful rows of buildings and surprising façades, buildings tell stories. During this workshop, we will discover how people live in the city today and imagine how we could transform it.

Then we put on our architect’s hat and imagine and draw our own building: where should the windows go? How can we bring in the light? What rooms could we invent? What will the façade look like? We will build models, create collages and experiment with artistic techniques to bring our ideas to life. Ready to build the city of the future?

Themes: architecture, city, future, 3D

Objectives: develop children’s creativity, their sense of observation, and their understanding of space and the city.

  • Weaving Brussels: textile creation between history and imagination (Ages 8-12)

17.08.2026 > 21.08.2026

From colourful threads to soft fabrics and patterns from around the world, textiles are everywhere around us! During this week, we will discover how a simple thread can become a fabric, and then a useful or decorative object.

Let’s experiment! We will play with colours, materials and thicknesses to create our own pieces. We will learn to weave and sew our own pouches, pencil cases, rugs or even poufs. We will also explore Brussels’ textile history and travel around the world to discover how cultures tell their stories through textiles and patterns. Ready to transform threads into unique creations?

Themes: textile design, weaving, experimentation, history

Objectives: introduce children to weaving and sewing techniques, create their own objects, and stimulate creativity.
