THE PLACE OF DRAWING IN THE CREATIVE PROCESS

16.09.2021 – 7PM

Whether symbolic, metaphorical, allegorical or realistic, drawing, for the designer, is a tool of self-meditation. Object of dialogue and visualization, it allows the designer to express himself, to represent ideas or to physically materialize his or her inspiration and creativity. There are obviously different ways of drawing. The drawing can take the form of sketches, scenarios, story boards, cartographies, graphic symbols, caricatures. Today, the arrival of the computer in drawing has transformed this tool and its universe, making manual methods more complex, offering greater precision and opening up unimaginable simulation possibilities.

For the occasion of the Brussels Drawing Week, Justin Lalieux, industrial designer, will address the place of drawing in the creative process and its dialogue with the new computer-assisted design tools.

Justin Lalieux is an “obsessive multifaceted” creative.

Industrial designer, graphic designer, lecturer at ENSAV La Cambre from 2013 to 2019, passionate about pop culture and science fiction. He develops concepts for industry and focuses on sustainability. At MAD-Brussels, he accompanies other designers in their methodology.

In 2020, he founded Blabel where he developed recycled, locally produced and recyclable object.
