On 28 and 29 June, the Design Museum Brussels invites you to a 100% skate weekend as part of the Skateboard exhibition, with a rich and festive programme. This is your chance to watch or take part in a skateboarding competition, learn how to skate, show off your best flips, grinds and tricks, or learn and share your fingerboarding skills. There’s something for everyone, of all ages and abilities. You can also take advantage of the weekend to visit the Skateboard exhibition and the new photo exhibition showcasing the Belgian skate scene through the eyes of 10 Belgian photographers.

PROGRAMME:

EXPO – Skateboard

Skateboard explores the development of skateboard design since the 1950s, focusing on its technological, performative and aesthetic evolution. Visitors will gain insight into how skaters have repeatedly re-designed their boards to new styles and environments.

EXPO – Skateboard and photography

This exhibition brings together ten works by Belgian photographers of all generations who have turned their attention to the world of skateboarding. An invitation to discover a performative practice through the photographic lens.

ACTIVITY – Miniramp Jam

Skateboarding competition open to all. Two categories: -16 years and +16 years. 5 minutes to show your best tricks to the jury and the crowd. Prizes at stake! After the competition, take part in the ‘tricks for cash & goods’, where the skateboarders with the best tricks will be rewarded.

• When: 28.06.2025 from 1pm to 7pm
  • 1pm to 2.30pm: -16
  • 3pm to 5pm: 16+
• Age: 0-15 years and 16-99 years (advanced level)

 

ACTIVITY – Fingerboard: introductions, demonstrations, jam

Come and enjoy the ramps, have fun and improve your skills together. Need help with a technique or trick? The skateboarders from Raion, Byrrrh & Skate and Monsters on Wheels will be there to help you and teach you the tricks of the trade.

• When: 29.06.2025 from 1pm to 7pm
• Age: from 8 years old (beginner, intermediate and advanced levels)

 

ACTIVITY – Open and Tips & Tricks sessions

Come and enjoy the ramps, have fun and improve your skills together. Need help with a technique or trick? The skateboarders from Raion, Byrrrh & Skate and Monsters on Wheels will be there to help you and teach you the tricks of the trade.
