Guided tour of the exhibition Paris, Brussels and back. The Art Deco period of the Baucher-Feron couple with Ruth Hommelen.
The Design Museum Brussels has recently acquired the archives of the Baucher-Feron couple, an iconic duo in Belgian interior design and architecture, active between 1920 and 1980. These archives consist of drawings, interior design projects, photos, sculptures, textile samples, wallpaper, archives from the Avenue Louise store, and family documents.
Using the exhibition Paris, Brussels and back. The Art Deco period of the Baucher-Feron couple has a starting point, presented as part of the Art Deco Year 2025, this guided tour will highlight the work of a prolific couple who contributed to the spread of Art Deco and a modern vision of interior design. An opportunity to share with the public a work that has yet to be discovered and explored.
About Ruth Hommelen
Ruth Hommelen holds a Master’s degree and a Master 2 Research degree in art and architecture history from Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University. She is a lecturer in art and architecture history at St Lucas Antwerp and at the LUCA School of Arts in Brussels and Ghent. In 2026, she will defend her doctoral thesis on light architecture, entitled “The Nightside of Modernity. Light Architecture and Metropolitan Culture during the Interwar Period” at KU Leuven.
