On February 17, Pizzicato and the Design Museum Brussels invite you on a musical journey through the multiple experiences of a 17th-Century woman with Marie-Laure Coenjaerts (mezzo-soprano) and Jasper Bärtling-Lippina (theorbo, lute and guitar).
The program invites you on a fascinating journey through the different stages of a woman’s life – from youth to adulthood, through the fullness and responsibilities of motherhood, to reflections on finitude. Italian music of the early 17th century reflects the richness and diversity of human experience: joy and curiosity, self-giving and inner strength, love and loss. The works selected come from artists who left their mark on the musical universe of the early Italian Baroque, such as Francesca and Giulio Caccini, Barbara Strozzi and Claudio Monteverdi. Virtuosic instrumental pieces by Giovanni Girolamo Kapsberger and Bellerofonte Castaldi enrich these emotional narratives, offering a captivating dialogue between voice and theorbo.
